About 22Bem

This website was created by a couple of retired Americans who've lived in Lisbon, on and off, for years. It is intended solely for friends considering or planning a visit to Portugal.

If you want to contact us but don't already know who we are and how to get ahold of us, well, tough luck. Enjoy the site anyway.

We don't get any commissions or have any affiliate relationships with anything here, or anywhere actually.

What Does 22Bem Mean, Anyway?

It's a pun on "tudo bem", the Portuguese standard greeting.

Rather than "how are ya?", Portuguese say "tudo bem?", (TOO-doo BEI-ng, where the "ng" is a sort of an almost unpronounced nasal thing), which is literally "is everything (tudo) good (bem)?

There are many ways to respond to this, but the easiest is just to repeat "tudo bem" right back at them.

So this site's name is sort of a multi-lingual pun: two two bem !
